TALL ORDER FOR TIM HORTON -
(Jan 15th, 2007 Scarborough, ON):
STB Champ and 2004 MVP called up to QB the injury-riddled Green Machine.
Tim Horton is all set to fill the QB position for the 2007 Stuperbowl season. "I'm truly humbled by
the opportunity," Horton told Kenneth Diamond, League President, during a phone interview Friday
afternoon. Horton admits to tossing the ball around in recent weeks and says "It feels good."
In a bold move, Diamond plucked Horton from the players pool to QB the Machine after an ankle
injury in December sidelined QB Donny Cunningham. Horton QB'd his high school football team
and also did a short stint at the Michigan Wolverines Football camp. "I hope filling this spot
doesn't disrupt the culture of the game, Donnie is a great QB," Horton says, "I think I can get it
done for the Machine."
Horton will have his work cut out for him as he makes an attempt to bring Green Machine its first
Championship since, believe it or not, STB 2. Prior to Cunningham, QB Paul Girard captained the
Machine known then only as "Paul's team". After finishing at the bottom of an expanded 2002 and
2003 league Girard retired for a year allowing Cunningham to return the squad to championship form.
Unfortunately for Cunningham, in 2004, his rookie QB season, a dropped game winning TD pass to
Matt Froggatt propelled the Machine from famous to infamous. The Machine went on to lose that
game on the next drive 5-4 to the Redmen. Cunningham returned in 2005 to place third and
duplicated the effort in 2006 despite having one of the most organized and defensive teams the
league has ever had to offer.
Horton has entered into a one year deal with the Machine with no option. Details of the teams
management between Cunningham and Horton have not been disclosed. "Regardless of the
outcome, Green Machine is the team to play on," Cunningham's press release stated late Friday
night, "of course I will be supporting Green Blood, Green all day long."

Stuperbowl 7 Champions - The Thunder Rolls!! -
(Feb 5th, 2006 Scarborough, ON):
Stuperbowl 7 at times was downright ugly. Rain, snow, blustery winds and frigid temperatures put all four teams to the test. In one of the most competitive round robin tournaments in Stuperbowl history, Blue Thunder and Gold Rush earned the right to battle for StuperBowl 7. In a one sided affair Blue Thunder out lasted Gold Rush 5-2, with Stephan Koechlin taking home MVP honors.
"It doesn't matter who gets what," Stephan Koechlin (BT) said of taking the MVP. "To me this trophy belongs to these players. It was a very challenging day; we're thrilled to win. These players played great, they deserve it; they really deserve it."
As winners always do, Blue Thunder reasserted themselves effectively in the finals throwing deep balls against a tiring defense and taking advantage of turnovers. "Turnovers was the theme all day, we knew we had to create some if we wanted close the deal, we did a great job adjusting during the game." Eric Wiseman (BT) noted.
We were too sloppy to win," receiver Mike Wiseman (GR) said. "It was great day, but we made too many mistakes. We could have won; it sure doesn't help that Eric was on the winning team either, that hurts." Gold Rush had plenty of opportunities but weather conditions limited the offense.
After the game, when asked several questions about Blue Thunder's victory, Gold Rush QB Norm Smyth essentially said, "they didn't win; we lost. It was physical; a lot of guys were bumped and bruised, but I'm not making excuses here!! I just hope to see them at Stuperbowl 8, I got a different ending in mind"

The Munchies Bowl - 02.05.2005
For some it's all about football. For others, it's the food
By Kim Hughes
For sheer scope, hype and hyper-bole, nothing
touches the mighty Super Bowl. It doesn't matter who is playing or if one
is a regular-season football fan. The Super Bowl is an event unto itself,
a daylong high point on the social calendar focused on cheeky, high-priced
advertising and garnish halftime spectacles. Oh yes, and the game.
For Canadians, house parties are the preferred
means of fraternizing with the pigskin faithful. but what makes a party
special? Rituals. Chili and beer may be Super Bowl staples, but there will
be much more going on in the rec rooms of the nation tomorrow than just
flagrant consumption.

Ditto for Ken Diamond, a 30-year old portfolio
administrator with Mackenzie Financial and a lifelong Washington Redskins
fan. Diamond and a group of roughly "28 diehard players," host
"Stuperbowl," a Super Bowl-themed interactive event so big it
has its on Web site (www.stuperbowl.com).
"Almost as much fun as the games we play is
the food we eat," Diamond says. "This even is potluck, with one
interesting twist; you have to bring food that represents you favourite
team, so Buffalo fans would bring wings, Green Bay fans would bring cheese
and so on. This makes for quite the array of food.

AN AWESOME DAY FOR FROGGATT - 02.07.2005
Stuperbowl Veteran and 2005 Champion Matt Froggatt didn't know
all that was in store when he won StuperBowl VI Sunday evening.
"Winning the
StuperBowl and the accomplishment of Team GoldRush didn't really hit me
until I got home and looked at the Don Diamond Memorial Trophy sitting
in front of me. It's great to be a part of an awesome day with a good,
good bunch of guys, but also to have my name on something that
stands for so much, is a great honour. Although I never had the
pleasure of meeting Don Diamond, Mike Kotsopoulos, Ron Dunham, Frank
Adamo or William McCulloch, the honour is still of paramount importance.
Congratulations to all on another great StuperBowl."
Written by Matt Froggatt one day "after winning the
first of many StuperBowl Championships."
The
following two player's statements were sent to me last week before StuperBowl.
I was unable to post them when they were first sent to me and apologize for
the delay.

THE
MATT FROGGATT SHOW
- 02.04.2005
NEW
"...the
condition of the field makes no difference to Matt Froggatt. All
Matt Froggatt knows and cares about is what Matt Froggatt is capable of.
The field can be as slick as Dan's chin on wing night or as dry as
Norm's face in January, either way, this will be the Matt Froggatt
show."

HUNGRY
ROOKIE TAKES HIS SHOT
- 02.04.2005
NEW
It's
a familiar story : A dedicated overlooked athlete toils in obscurity
before finally latching on the very last roster spot of a marginal team
and, exceeding all expectations, rockets to prominence. As unheralded
Stuperbowl rookie Paul "Cadillac" Simon told our Pam Oliver, the
scouting department that recognizes his potential earliest on draft day
will reap the windfall of his prodigious offensive skills and defensive
savvy. "I understand the emphasis placed these days on known
quantities like experience and familiarity with the system, but I just
know I'll make some general manager very happy in crunch time, he said.
"I've been playing football all my life. From
Pop Warner to this very day. I'm just grateful I have a chance to play on
the game's biggest stage."
